Server Message Blocks

Server Message Blocks (SMB) is the language with which Microsoft servers communicate. This language operates in the Application Layer of the Open System Interconnect (OSI) model. By enabling File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Networks, a machine can provide data and services to other machines using Server Message Blocks (SMB’s). By incorporating the Microsoft Client for Microsoft Networks in the Network configuration, a machine can understand information received using Server Message Blocks (SMB’s). Both are added using the Network Configuration program in the Control Panel.
